“I consider Antifa and US government adjacencies to it to be part of the weaponization toolkit that the Biden administration used,” Benz said. “That toolkit spans lawfare, FBI targeting and the like.” He added that “paramilitary street violence and the condoning of it” were also part of that political strategy.
Benz told Posobiec that former congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard, who now serves as Director of National Intelligence, recently created “an interagency working group on weaponization of intelligence and foreign affairs functions.” He said the new effort involves multiple agencies including ODNI, CIA, State Department, USAID, FBI, and DHS.
He argued that investigators could start by searching internal files across those agencies using keywords such as Antifa, anti-fascist, or authoritarian to uncover potential connections between US agencies and far-left groups abroad. “Start with a basic review of all files around, for example, energy policy in Germany,” Benz said.
“The Biden administration blew up the Nord Stream pipelines,” he said, adding that “Antifa groups in Germany were champing at the bit for that and have been used as a battering ram against the AFD party there.” He alleged that Washington sent “tens of millions of dollars in aid” to organizations operating in Germany that had ties to Antifa networks.
“It is impossible that there are no linkages there,” Benz said. “You start with that and make it sunlight, the best disinfectant. These networks rely on secrecy.” He said intelligence officials often argue that disclosing the government’s involvement with Antifa-linked groups could jeopardize partnerships with dissidents abroad, but he called that “complete BS.”
“If you use this as a sword abroad, you can’t use that secrecy as a shield at home because Antifa operates here at home,” Benz said. “It starts with taking the lid off of the den of vipers and simply exposing the snakes inside.”
He added that if those operations were not properly disclosed, they could violate “FARA-type laws.” Benz cited prior reporting that US forces had coordinated with far-left units during the Syrian conflict. “We know because the military was working directly with these Antifa units,” he said. “There is connective tissue between the US military, the Central Intelligence Agency, and Antifa in Syria.”
Posobiec said the same networks trained foreign fighters in Syria before returning to the West. “It wasn’t just American Antifa that were coming,” he said. “They were sourcing them from Germany, they were sourcing them from Greece.” He described northeastern Syria as “a training ground for Antifa to receive battlefield experience.”
He added that at least one individual who fought in Syria later “traveled back to the United States to participate in the Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone,” where he manned armed barricades in Seattle’s CHAZ in 2020.
“They go straight from targeting the CIA’s enemies abroad to the CIA’s political enemies here at home,” he said. “That’s how this international network works.”
