SAVANAH HERNANDEZ to JACK POSOBIEC: It’s time to call in the National Guard to quell the violence in US cities

Reporter Savanah Hernandez and Human Events Daily host Jack Posobiec discussed the rise of lawlessness in American cities and growing public frustration with local and federal inaction, arguing that President Donald Trump would have widespread support if he deployed the National Guard to restore order and crack down on crime.

Posobiec opened the discussion by asking whether the American people would back Trump if he activated the Guard to address chaos in cities such as Portland, Oregon. Hernandez replied that public opinion is firmly behind such action. “Oh, absolutely, Jack,” she said. “If we just start with Portland — you have citizens who have had to sue the city because they call the police, and the police tell them there’s nothing they can do about the noise ordinances that are broken every single night.”

She described Portland as a city in collapse. “People have been getting tormented on the streets—threats, assaults, sleepless nights,” Hernandez said. “It’s been complete chaos. Law-abiding Americans, even those who didn’t vote for Trump, are living in cities where there is no law and order. They would absolutely support this measure because they’re tired of living in a lawless, third-world-like environment.”

Hernandez said ordinary Americans “gave Trump a mandate to fix this country” and that the nation’s problems have reached a breaking point. “It’s gotten so out of control — from the illegal immigration issue to domestic terrorist groups like Antifa, who have been running these streets since 2020. Americans are exhausted,” she said.

She said that families in cities like Portland are living among open drug abuse and violence. “You’re watching children walk past an ICE facility covered in graffiti reading things like ‘kill ICE’ and ‘the only good cop is a dead cop,’” Hernandez said. “This is what children see every day, and it’s disgusting.”

Posobiec then pointed to the national security implications, citing gang violence and cartel activity. “The Latin Kings in Chicago—one of them was just indicted for putting a hit out on a border patrol agent,” he said. “These are cartel-affiliated gangs putting out hits on border patrol officers. What other word for this would there be other than an invasion or an insurrection? I just don’t see the issue from a legal or political perspective. It’s all there. I would say just do it—call up the National Guard immediately.”

Hernandez agreed, tying the rise in violent crime to the broader breakdown in immigration enforcement. “Regarding mass deportations, absolutely,” she said. “This was the number one issue for so many Americans. We’ve watched our country get completely invaded and destroyed.”

She pointed to the rise of Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua in US cities, saying, “They established themselves in Chicago in 2022 or 2023 because of our open borders. Then you had members up in New York saying, ‘We’ve been shooting cops — it’s part of our culture.’ They didn’t even know they weren’t supposed to do it here.”

Hernandez added that “American women and children have been killed by illegal immigrants for years” and said “it’s time to clean this country up immediately.” She said that the National Guard’s role should be to restore order in cities “where Democrat leaders have completely failed.”

“The crime rate for illegal immigrants is 100 percent,” Hernandez said. “The first act they committed upon entering the US was breaking our laws. They don’t respect us. They’ve made that clear time and time again.”

Hernandez also described the erosion of American culture as another source of public anger. “I was at Walmart the other day and couldn’t find anyone who spoke English,” she said. “It took me four tries to find someone who could help me. Americans are tired of not being able to communicate in their own language in their own country.”

She noted the breakdown of public safety is “the direct result of Democrat leadership.” “They’ve shirked their duties,” she said. “If you’re not serving the American people, who are you serving? Foreign entities? Yourself? Because you’re not serving us if you can’t even enforce basic law and order.”
