Right-wing activist Tommy Robinson organized a large “Unite the Kingdom” rally in London on Saturday that saw the streets flooded with supporters advocating for free speech and the protection of their country’s heritage.
The rally was estimated by several mainstream media outlets to have roughly 110,000 people in attendance, though Robinson accused these outlets of downplaying the event and posted a video on X showing the streets filled with supporters.
Robinson characterized the march as one in support of free speech, and speakers highlighted issues such as preserving British heritage in the face of policies believed to be destructive. Waving Union Jacks and St. George’s flags, demonstrators also carried signs against mass migration, including phrases such as “stop the boats,” “send them home,” and “enough is enough, save our children.”
Elon Musk spoke via video call to protoesters at the event, criticizing the “rapidly increasing erosion of Britain.”
“I think there's something beautiful about being British and what I see happening here is a destruction of Britain, initially a slow erosion but rapidly increasing erosion of Britain with massive uncontrolled migration,” the tech billionaire said.
Musk also critizied the “woke mind virus” and argued that decisions should be made based on merit rather than “discrimination on the basis of sex, or religion or any race or anything else.”
The rally also honored US conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who was assassinated earlier this week in Utah. Hundreds gathered in London on Friday night for a vigil in Kirk’s memory, and several speakers during the protest paid tribute to Kirk. A moment of silence was held, and a bagpiper played “Amazing Grace.”
