JACK POSOBIEC: It's time to take our cities back—DC is just the beginning

"When we go down to Washington, DC, we know you stay within a very strict corridor, you don’t step out of that, and you certainly don’t go out for too long after night with little kids.”

Human Events Daily host Jack Posobiec spoke about President Trump’s move to federalize the Washington, DC Metropolitan Police amid soaring crime in the city on Monday's edition of the show.

Posobiec highlighted Trump’s announcement this morning at the White House, describing it as the “liberation of Washington, DC.” The president invoked the Home Rule Act of Washington, DC, giving him constitutional authority to federalize the city’s police force. Posobiec emphasized that “it’s certainly something that is within his legal remit” and “something that needs to be done because of the outrageous street violence in Washington, DC.”

Pointing to corruption within the local police department, Posobiec noted that “one of the commanders of the DC police force was just fired for cooking the books or juking the stats.” He described crime in the city as “out of control,” adding from personal experience, “I know this because I take my kids here... When we go down to Washington, DC, we know you stay within a very strict corridor, you don’t step out of that, and you certainly don’t go out for too long after night with little kids.”

He cited repeated violent incidents including shootings and fatal carjackings, calling the situation “completely insane.” Posobiec praised Trump’s decision to bring in the National Guard to “clean up the streets,” saying, “Bravo, President Trump. Thank God.”

Addressing the city’s drug problem, Posobiec said, “You gotta get the drugs off the street too. The drug dealers, the people who are walking around... The whole city smells like drugs all the time, even in the tourist areas. You can’t take children anywhere, right? It smells disgusting. It smells awful.” He argued this condition “is clearly something that’s not reflective of what our national capital should be.”

Comparing DC to Warsaw, Poland, where he was recently, Posobiec noted the stark contrast in crime rates. “Their murder rate [is] less than one per 100,000. In Washington, DC, it’s 41.” He said the murder rate in Warsaw is “60 times lower,” despite the Polish capital having a larger population and geography.

Posobiec attributed the difference to strict law enforcement in Poland: “Because they take the laws seriously... if you break the law in Warsaw, you’re gonna go away. They’re not gonna let you right back out on the street.” He added, “Washington, DC has lost its ability and lost its privilege of self-rule.”

Looking ahead, Posobiec welcomed Trump’s consideration of similar federal interventions in other cities plagued by crime. “When I hear President Trump say, we want to take a look at New York and Baltimore and Detroit and Chicago and Philadelphia and Los Angeles, I say, thank God.”

He concluded, “Thank God we have a president who actually wants to fix the problems of the public lawlessness in this country. We need law and order all across the United States of America, and we need it now. The citizens of the United States are in your debt for this. President Trump, God bless you.”
