A 43-year-old Dutch man has been arrested after three men were stabbed during a violent altercation near Amsterdam Central Station that was livestreamed on TikTok.
The incident took place at around 7:30 pm on Saturday evening. When officers arrived at the station, they found three men suffering from stab wounds. A 43-year-old man from Naarden was arrested as the suspect, who also suffered injuries during the altercation.
The confrontation was partially captured on a TikTok livestream. Footage circulating online showed the TikToker arguing with a group of men, telling them “don’t touch” and saying he’s “not afraid of six or seven men.” Comments on the livestream were urging him to “lash out” and “slam,” according to a report by the Dutch outlet NOS.
The situation then escalated when a person fell to the ground. The livestream appears to show the TikToker making a stabbing motion before the broadcast abruptly ends.
The exact circumstances surrounding the confrontation remain unclear. Police are investigating what led to the altercation and what happened immediately before the stabbing.
Two of the three stabbing victims were transported to a hospital, while another was treated at the scene. The suspect was also taken to a hospital because of injuries he sustained. All individuals transported to the hospital were discharged.
Police are examining the TikTok footage as part of their investigation and are asking witnesses to come forward with information.
"The detectives would therefore like to get in touch with witnesses," police said. "Do you possess video footage from the period before, during, or after the incident? If so, the investigation team would like to get in touch with you."
