Pope Francis is continuing his recovery at Gemelli Hospital while staying engaged with Vatican activities. The Holy See Press Office provided an update on Sunday evening, confirming that the Pope followed the Spiritual Exercises of the Roman Curia via video link from his hospital room.

The Exercises, led by Fr. Roberto Pasolini, began on Sunday afternoon in the Paul VI Hall. Despite his hospitalization, the Pope joined spiritually with those participating.

Earlier in the day, Pope Francis received a visit from Cardinal Secretary of State Pietro Parolin and Archbishop Edgar Peña Parra of the Secretariat of State. He also attended Mass with those assisting him at the hospital.

Doctors report that the Pope's condition is stable, showing slight gradual improvements. He has continued his prescribed therapy, including respiratory and motor physiotherapy, and has transitioned to eating solid foods. However, due to the complexity of his health situation, his medical team maintains a guarded prognosis.

As planned, the Pope will continue to receive non-invasive mechanical ventilation overnight following high-flow oxygen therapy during the day. A medical bulletin is expected to be released on Monday evening, as no new update was issued on Sunday due to his stable condition.

Earlier in the day, the Pope shared a message for his Angelus address, expressing gratitude to the medical staff caring for him.

“During my prolonged hospitalization here,” he said. “I too experience the thoughtfulness of service and the tenderness of care, in particular from the doctors and healthcare workers, whom I thank from the bottom of my heart.”

Pope Francis also used the moment to pray for those suffering from illness and those who care for them, calling them "signs of the Lord's presence."
