Guest hosts Kevin Posobiec and Michelle Backus stepped in for regular host Jack Posobiec on Tuesday’s edition of Human Events Daily, where they spoke with Reality Check host and Rasmussen pollster Mark R Mitchell, who broke down the latest polls showing high approval ratings for President Donald Trump.

Mitchell, discussing the left and the strong polling ratings seen in recent surveys, said “[The left] were still very effective at controlling the dominant narrative until the Election Day. There were stories dropping a week before the election all over the place like [Tony Hinchcliffe] telling the joke about Puerto Rico and the Liz Cheney thing,” Mitchell said, referring to a joke about Puerto Rico made by comedian Tony Hinchcliffe and comments made by Trump about Liz Cheney that were mischaracterized as a violent threat by corporate media.

"All of the sudden, after the election, the core left tuned out of their propaganda machines and has gone into echo chambers. And where they're at, is it's kind of like the Kübler-Ross cycles of grief," Mitchell said. "They went through shock and denial, and now they’re trying to gin up anger and defensiveness. They’re trying to jump-start a rebellion."

Mitchell noted that online platforms reflect this shift, with some forums seeing suppressed calls to violence and growing frustration among users. "You look at Reddit, and there were a lot of calls to violence that are being suppressed. BlueSky, those people are inconsolable. I don’t think you really see much in the way of any politicians putting their neck on the line. They begged Chuck Schumer to come out and put up some kind of resistance, and he got ruthlessly ratioed by everyone and their mom. The environment has completely changed."

He also pointed to data trends showing a rise in searches for terms like "constitutional crisis," calling it an example of manufactured outrage. "Just two days ago, out of nowhere, organic searches for the term 'constitutional crisis' ticked up to ten times the highest level they’ve ever been in the last 15 years. It’s incredible—all this pearl-clutching, all this fake outrage. It’s not going to work because the numbers are phenomenal."

According to Mitchell, public sentiment is shifting in Trump’s favor. "Donald Trump’s approval ratings are up over the last week—three points. Fifty-three percent! Fewer people strongly disapprove of Donald Trump than in January 2017."

He also noted Elon Musk’s growing popularity, particularly in his efforts to cut government waste. "We polled on Elon Musk, and he has a 52 percent favorable rating, 31 percent 'very.' So he’s net-plus 6, and Trump’s net-plus 8 right now. He’s just as favorable as Trump is. We also asked if you approve or disapprove of Elon Musk being in charge of DOGE, which is cutting government waste, and we got 55 percent approval."

Mitchell concluded by emphasizing the strong public support for government cuts, saying, "These are people watching what is happening, watching this major hatchet fall on Washington. Eighty-six percent say [cutting government waste] is important, including 82 percent of Democrats who say 'important.' So this is the new normal."
