Dr. Phil McGraw appeared on The Charlie Kirk Show to discuss a recently viral video, wherein the TV personality joined Trump Border Czar Tom Homan and several ICE agents in Chicago to witness arrests of criminal illegal immigrants slated for deportation.
Phil said that, among the things he learned on the ground, the legacy media is engaging in a bunch of “fear-mongering.”
“They’re talking about sweeps through neighborhoods, indiscriminately picking up anybody with a tan, is kind of what they’re implying, that they’re going into businesses, sweeping through there and going to schools. Nothing could be further from the truth,” McGraw said.
“What I saw was a multi-agency operation where people were coming together—DEA, ATF, U.S. Marshals, ICE, and FBI—and they were making coordinated efforts after doing a lot of research to get the worst first. They were focusing on violent criminals that are in our communities today and taking them out of our communities. I don’t know how anyone could object to that, how anybody could not want those people,” he added.
“I was hoping Tom Homan would take one of them and go down to the town square or mayor’s front door and say, ‘Here, I got him. Do you want me to turn him loose?’ What is the problem with this? The problem I’ve got is that they’ve opened these borders and let people in, now ICE is having to come down and clean up the mess, and people are objecting to it. I just don’t understand that,” Phil concluded.
McGraw recently joined ICE officers on deportation operations in the city, later documenting the experience on Merit TV.
In the viral clip, as a man was being detained, he recognized McGraw but wasn’t particularly impressed.
“You’ve never been deported before?” McGraw repeatedly asked.
“You’re Dr. Phil?!” the man eventually responded. “You look like Dr. Phil.”
“Yeah?” McGraw replied. “How do you know me?”
“I seen you on Dr. Phil,” the man said.
When McGraw inquired about the man’s background, he hesitated before stating, “Where I was born, or where I’m from?” He eventually revealed that he was born in Thailand but had a US citizen mother.
Despite McGraw’s attempts to continue the conversation, the man declined to engage further, saying, “I’m not gonna stand here. I want to talk to my lawyer.”
Following the encounter, McGraw took to X (formerly Twitter) to share details, describing the man as a “convicted sex offender and internet predator.”
McGraw also shared that local law enforcement is not working cooperatively with ICE.
McGraw said that the individual in the viral video had been “in the community since 2007. One thing about child predators is that they aren’t one and done. They tend to have multiple victims throughout their career. So how many victims did this individual have while he was out there in the community?” McGraw asked.
Kirk added to McGraw’s point, noting that allowing these violent criminals to walk free was a “choice” by the previous administration. “Violent people against children, there was just an indifference towards bringing them back to the country of origin. You’re exactly right, Dr. Phil. We know what he was convicted of. We don’t know what other crimes he was never convicted of or never investigated for,” Kirk said. “…They tend to not just act once.”
