Fox News reports that the IDF confirmed they targeted Hezbollah infrastructure sites as well as a weapons storage facility in south Lebanon on Thursday. "The IDF will continue to operate against the threat of the Hezbollah terrorist organization in order to defend the State of Israel," the IDF said in a statement.
Hezbollah also said it launched a series of strikes targeting three military posts in northern Israel early on Thursday. Israel reported that two drones had crashed near civilian communities and that at least 8 people were being treated at nearby hospitals for moderate injuries, per the Associated Press.
At least 37 people were killed and around 3,000 injured in the mass explosions which rocked Lebanon the days prior, incidents which have been largely blamed on Israel, although the Israeli government and military have not yet commented on them. However, on Wednesday, a senior US official told Fox News that Israel was responsible for the planned explosions.
Hezbollah's leader, Hassan Nasrallah vowed to exact revenge on Israel in a televised speech on Thursday and continue daily cross-border strikes on northern Israel. "Yes, we were subjected to a huge and severe blow," Nasrallah said. "The enemy crossed all boundaries and red lines. The enemy will face a severe and fair punishment from where they expect and don’t expect."
The Israeli military did release a statement Thursday, saying "The Hezbollah terrorist organization has turned southern Lebanon into a combat zone. For decades, Hezbollah has weaponized civilian homes, dug tunnels beneath them, and used civilians as human shields."
