Two anonymous complaints were lodged against Dr. Jereth Kok in 2018 over his social media content, after which he was placed under investigation by the Medical Board of Australia. He learned of the investigation 9 months later after the Board had scoured 10 years' worth of his internet and social media content enlisting help from forensic specialists.
In their findings, they highlighted 80 Facebook posts they found problematic including 5 shared Babylon Bee articles. Other posts shared content from conservative creators such as Matt Walsh, Allie Beth Stuckey, and Katy Faust.
In 2019, Kok was told he would be immediately suspended from practicing medicine in order to protect the "public interest." He has been on trial for professional misconduct since July 2024, a 5 year period past when he was suspended. The trial is set to end on October 14th when the fate of his career will be decided.
The articles he shared from the Babylon Bee were as follows:
'L, G, T, Q, And + Publicly Execute B For Implying There Are Only Two Genders'
'Australian Citizens Ask Taliban To Liberate Their Country'
'Congressional Prayer Lasts Two Days As Democrat Includes All 5,787 Genders'
Instead Of Traditional Warfare, Chinese Military Will Now Be Trained To Shout Wrong Pronouns At American Troops'
'Nation That Kills 3,000 Babies A Day Feels Morally Superior To Slaveowners From 200 Years Ago'
A majority of the content he shared talked about there being only 2 genders. A post from Matt Walsh he shared read: "Our sex is one of the most biologically concrete things about us. They could dig up your bones 100 years from now and tell what sex you were. If that is now 'fluid' than [sic] literally everything else is."
