Van Leuven beat Stefanie Lueck in the final Event 9, winning in a wash of 5 to 0. The 28-year-old then took victory in Event 10, beating out Rhian O'Sullivan in the Netherlands 5 to 1, according to Sky Sports. The trans-identified male won multiple darts tournaments in 2024 competing against the women.
With the Event 9 and Event 10 wins, Van Leuven can get prize money and the wins count towards the Women's Series Order of Merit, where the top two players get an invite to the World Darts Championship and can then qualify for the 2025 Mr Vegas Grand Slam of Darts.
However, not all women in the darts league want the transgender player to be involved in the competition. British star Deta Hedman has called for males to be banned from playing in the women's events, the Daily Mail reported.
In October 2024, Van Leuven said that those women wanting to ban transgender players from the women's league were "toxic b*tches."
"I thought the world should know. This is discrimination. We have been thrown back 40 years with the sport of darts," Van Leuven said at the time. Dutch darts players Anca Zijlstra and Aileen de Graaf have also refused to play on the same team as Van Leuven and left the national team back in March of this year.
