DAVID KRAYDEN: Strzok and Page remain the face of the public disintegration of the FBI

Threaten to “stop” Donald Trump from being elected and you’ll end up getting $2 million from still-President Joe Biden’s Justice Department.

That’s the bill for a ludicrous privacy lawsuit filed by former FBI Trump-hater Peter Strzok and his girlfriend, FBI attorney Lisa Page. The two lovers texted each other on government-issued phones like two teenagers who couldn’t concentrate in class.

Strzok is getting $1.2 million and Page $800,000. Strzok, incredibly, isn’t finished yet either. This award was just for the supposed invasion of privacy that he and Page suffered when their reckless messages were broadcast around the world.

Strzok is continuing to sue for wrongful dismissal from the FBI.

“This outcome is a critical step forward in addressing the government’s unfair and highly politicized treatment of Pete,” Strzok attorney Aitan Goelman unabashedly declared in a statement. “As important as it is for him, it also vindicates the privacy interests of all government employees. We will continue to litigate Pete’s constitutional claims to ensure that, in the future, public servants are protected from adverse employment actions motivated by partisan politics.”

You can read some of those texts, as the pair demonize Trump and laud former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, in black and white.

But the exchange that people remember best is the one from August 2016 when the two share their disgust and animus towards Trump, and Strzok assures his paramour that something will be done about the Republican nominee winning the upcoming presidential race.

“[Trump’s] not ever going to become president, right? Right?!” Page wrote to Strzok.

“No. No he won’t. We’ll stop it,” Strzok responded.

Ironically, or perhaps predictably, both Strzok and Page were enlisted by the hapless Robert Mueller, the special counsel appointed to investigate the Russia collusion hoax that people like Strzok and Page helped invent through illegally obtaining FISA warrants and persecuting members of Trump’s election campaign, notably Carter Page.

The news that the incompetent and politically-motivated Justice Department had decided to reward Strzok and Page for their efforts to “stop” Trump and embroil him in a completely phony scandal was not widely reported and when it was, the headlines suggested that it was Trump who had “targeted” this oleaginous pair of closeted Democratic staffers.

But perhaps it isn’t news that the Justice Department no longer works for the American people and the FBI is a rogue paramilitary force devoted to arresting Trump and MAGA supporters; an appendage of the Democratic National Committee that has embroiled the former president in a series of half-baked legal entanglements and believes that parents who oppose Critical Race Theory in the classroom are domestic terrorists.

Why should we be surprised that Strzok and Page are treated as victims in the current news environment that continues to focus on whether the FBI and the Justice Department was involved in the attempted assassination of Trump on July 13. The gross incompetence that characterized the security of Trump’s rally in Pennsylvania on that day was so incredibly hard to believe that it is easier to imagine that this whole episode must have been an inside job and that the same FBI that promised to “stop” Trump in 2016 was getting down to really do the job in 2024.

Polls had already indicated that only about a third of Americans have a positive view of the FBI after the Biden administration used it so effectively to harass, intimidate and charge their political opponents.

The FBI has been about as clear and forthcoming about how a 20-year-old misfit and would-be assassin was able to get on top of a building about 150 feet away from a former president, unpack his assault rifle and leisurely prepare to shoot his intended target while dozens of spectators and police watched him do so.

Then he got off at least eight shots – unless there was a second shooter – before being fatally shot himself.

Then FBI Director Christopher Wray – perhaps the most smug face of law enforcement ever – maliciously and mischievously suggested that Trump might have been hit by “shrapnel” and not a bullet at all.

Nobody believes that the FBI has any intention of conducting a remotely competent or honest investigation of why what should have been an easily thwarted assassination attempt was left to the devices of Divine intervention or dumb luck, depending upon your theological persuasion.

The crime is already being solved on social media by a raft of qualified forensic investigators with access to a YouTube channel.

The evidence these investigators are uncovering is increasingly unpleasant for the FBI.

This is an organization that is so corrupt and antithetical to American justice that it can only limp on through a collective memory sustained by countless films and television shows lauding the veracity, heroism and patriotism of its stalwart members. But that is indeed only a memory.

The public disintegration of the FBI began eight years ago with the Strzok-Page texts and the revelation that the bureau’s top agents and lawyers had a massive and dangerous political bias that made them incapable of conducting law enforcement that was not infected by their tendentious judgment.

The fact that a disgraced FBI agent like Strzok – who betrayed his fidelity to both his wife and his police service with these texts to Page – can continue to publicly show his face and suggest there was an inkling of injustice in his dismissal is just more evidence of how the Deep State believes it can act with impunity against its enemies.
