A new study suggests that COVID-19 vaccines may be partially responsible for the increase in "unprecedented" excess fatalities in the United States and other Western countries in the three years since the pandemic began.
The revelation comes after scientists in the Netherlands analyzed mortality data from 47 Western countries, which found that mortality rates have increased and "remained high" since 2020, the New York Post reports. Researchers suggest COVID-19 vaccines might be to blame and urged governments and policymakers to conduct thorough investigations.
Researchers wrote in the study published in BMJ Public Health: "Although COVID-19 vaccines were provided to guard civilians from suffering morbidity and mortality by the COVID-19 virus, suspected adverse events have been documented as well."
"Both medical professionals and citizens have reported serious injuries and deaths following vaccination to various official databases in the Western World," the researchers continued. "During the pandemic, it was emphasized by politicians and the media on a daily basis that every COVID-19 death mattered and every life deserved protection through containment measures and COVID-19 vaccines. In the aftermath of the pandemic, the same moral should apply."
The investigation determined that there had been over 3 million excess fatalities in the United States, Europe, and Australia since 2020. The study indicates that over one million of these excess fatalities occurred in 2020, during the peak of the pandemic. However, the figures remained high in the subsequent years, with 1.2 million in 2021 and 800,000 in 2022, according to the researchers.
The study observes that the death toll figures encompass fatalities that are directly associated with the virus, as well as "indirect effects of the health strategies to address the virus spread and infection."
Additionally, researchers found that the vaccines have caused significant health events such as ischemic strokes, brain hemorrhages, and acute coronary syndromes, per the study.
