A female Israeli soldier who was kidnapped by Hamas on October 7 and held hostage was rescued by the IDF Monday during its ongoing ground operations in Gaza, BBC reports.

Pte Ori Megidish has been reunited with her family and is reportedly “doing well” after undergoing medical evaluations. No other details are being released at this time.

"PVT Megidish was abducted by Hamas on October 7. Tonight, she was released during IDF ground operations," the IDF said.

"Ori is now home with her family."

Megidish was an observation soldier on the Nahal Oz base which the terrorist group stormed on October 7.

She is the fifth hostage and the first soldier to be rescued. It is believed Hamas is still holding around 230 hostages.

Early last week, there were reports that an Israeli military official disclosed a deal was in the works for the release of around 50 dual citizen hostages in Hamas' control, focusing on women and children. Qatar and the United States were said to have been heavily mediating the negotiations. Two Israeli hostages, both 85 years old, were subsequently released. Megidish is the latest to be released.
