Now more than ever it is important for Republicans in the House of Representatives to unify behind Rep. Jim Jordan as the next Speaker of the House. Americans are suffering from President Biden’s failing economy, a crime epidemic sweeping the nation, and a porous southern border allowing millions of illegal aliens into the country. With the heartbreaking news of the evil terror attacks in Israel by Hamas, and the murders and kidnappings of innocent civilians, America needs clear-eyed and steady leadership at home.
Jim Jordan is just the kind of leader we need at such a pivotal time in history. I’ve worked closely with Jim in Congress. As a member of the Judiciary Committee, I’ve seen firsthand how he can bring Republicans together to find consensus and achieve a common goal. I’ve seen time and again how Jim successfully develops and executes a strategy, putting Members in a position to shine and the group in a position to succeed. Jim is the kind of humble leader who always gives credit to the team instead of seeking it for himself.
Millions of Americans have seen Jim grill witnesses at committee hearings, with the same grit and tenacity that he once displayed as a champion wrestler. But what Americans don’t see is the work that goes into those exchanges—how Jim spends hours listening and talking with colleagues, how he pours over information and briefing material, and how he practices and practices until he’s ready. These skills of collaboration, education, and preparation are disciplines built from Jim’s years wrestling. And they’re the kind of leadership traits that America so desperately needs now.
Jim has long been a leader in Congress addressing the big issues facing America. As Judiciary Chairman, he helped to shepherd H.R. 2, our major border security and immigration enforcement legislation, through the House by building consensus among Members of our party. Jim has been shining a light on Democrat soft-on-crime policies in major cities and how they hurt public safety. As a longtime champion of fiscal discipline, Jim has been on the frontlines fighting President Biden’s failing economy and wasteful spending. Jim understands how these issues affect Americans’ daily lives and is by far the best communicator of our conservative alternatives.
The terror attacks in Israel must sharpen our resolve for unity. Throughout his time in Congress, Jim has been a steadfast defender of our greatest ally in the Middle East. As Jim has said, in the face of such barbarism, Congress must give Israel the space and resources needed to defend itself and destroy Hamas once and for all. Under Jim’s leadership, the House would come together amid the atrocities and horror to rededicate ourselves to the people of Israel in their hour of need.
It’s time for Republicans to unify behind the candidate with the skills, experience, and tenacity to meet the challenges of our time. Jim Jordan is that man.
