Charlie Kirk endorses Jim Jordan, says 'we need a Speaker by Monday'

After Kevin McCarthy was ousted as the Speaker of the House, Charlie Kirk revealed the urgency that must be applied in the critical time that the chair is vacant, noting that “we need a speaker by Monday.”

McCarthy has since also announced he will not run for Speaker again.

Kirk began by saying “we must keep our eyes on the rules,” adding that “it would be imprudent and irresponsible if we do not also have someone become Speaker of the House who is not serious about defending the majority in 2024.”

He continued that Hakeem Jeffries, the Democrat minority leader of the House, “has raised hundreds of millions of dollars to take back the House. On the Democrat agenda, is HR 1, universal mail-in balloting, the elimination the Electoral College, and DC and Puerto Rico as states.”

“A Trump second term is 10 times as powerful if we have both houses of Congress.”

Kirk showed support for Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) who announced his run for Speaker on Wednesday.

He declared that he “definitely has the energy, he has the vision, he has the integrity… He's a good man. I've known him for a long time… I've never heard anybody in DC say a negative word about him.”

He's humble, he's a warrior, he’s legit conservative.”

Kirk referenced hardworking Americans in the “Heartland” and Midwest as well as the coastal states such as California when he noted, “we have to find a candidate that can unite the tribes.”

He reported that Democrats were for removing Kevin McCarthy “because they think that we're going to just fight amongst ourselves and that they can get a speaker that can be a temporary uniparty type speaker.”

“This would be a disaster, he stated. “It would be absolutely dreadful.”

“The entire debate came down to whether or not you are going to pass individual appropriation bills…or are you going to do just a CR, all-encompassing continuing resolution?“

He continued that whoever does get the Speaker chair needs to ensure “the first act of businesses be that we're going to do one by one spending bills.”

Kirk said that asking questions about budgets “drives DC crazy, by the way. DC just wants an all-encompassing, one-size-fits-all, no one has to look at the budget, sign off on it, everything is fine.”

He explained to his audience that, most importantly, Congress needs to move forward on getting appropriations bills passed before the 45-day CR expires.

“And you know what? It is about time that we start to put some pressure on the US Senate. The US Senate has … done nothing. They passed zero appropriations bills. They do absolutely nothing,” he averred.

“The house needs to unify as a Republican conference, needs to cut spending, defund Jack Smith, secure the border and send it to the Senate … make McConnell and Schumer do some work for once.”

“Put them on the record, do some voting, get them in some appropriations committees, use the leverage of the house to actually try and reform this completely and totally out of control budget.”

Kirk emphasized the urgency of the situation: “We are running out of time with candidate selection and recruitment in the swing districts. We're running out of time to raise money. We're running out of time to be able to bring the case to the American people. And most importantly, we're running out of time legislatively with the CR clock ticking, the election is 13 months away.”

Kirk concluded, “We need to have a full slate of candidates in the swing districts, which people don't always think about.”

“We need a speaker by Monday.”
