From the glorious moment “Dancing with the Stars” announced that Matt Walsh would be joining the star-studded lineup of contestants, controversy erupted online. Many were concerned that Walsh would be in violation of the Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike.
For a brief moment, it appeared Walsh would yield the stage to his other talented competitors; however, after WGA announced that a tentative agreement had been reached, ending the strike, Walsh was set to grace audiences across the nation with his talent once again.
“Walsh’s first and only appearance on Dancing With The Stars, a grueling two-and-a-half-hour premiere featuring Jason Mraz, Vanderpump Rules’ Ariana Maddix, and The Brady Brunch’s Barry Williams, went fine,” AV Club reported, “until it didn’t.”
A heartfelt and beautiful performance ended in devastation after Walsh received a score of 12 from the judges.
The outlet noted that the audience was “audibly disappointed,” after the actor received several cruel “backhanded compliments” from the judges. “Walsh looked crushed, but, as he said, he was happy to appear on a show his mom could watch,” the outlet added.
Walsh and his partner were eliminated the same night, devastating viewers nationwide.
Some “Dancing with the Stars” fans were confused by the initial cast announcement, as many noted that there are two famous men named Matt Walsh.
TV Shows Ace cleared the air, explaining that Matt Walsh, who emerged in one star-studded dance on national television is a comedian, “best-known for his role on the show Veep. Walsh played the role of Mike McLintock. He was also in The Hangover and Into The Storm. Matt has been married to Morgan Walsh since 2009 and they have three children together. He is an actor and comedian by trade.”
“The Other” Matt Walsh is a best-selling LGBTQ+ children’s author, known for his book “Johnny the Walrus.” Walsh also recently debuted as a filmmaker and is a celebrated public speaker and show host.
“I want to dance, I love to dance, I need to dance. And dance I shall,” Walsh told his loyal followers on X (the social media platform formerly known as Twitter).
