Last week, a would-be mass shooter carrying an AR-15 was immediately stopped by a security guard in Las Vegas.

According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, a 32-year-old gunman entered Turnberry Towers with an AR-15 and pointed it at several individuals. After firing one round at a security guard, the gunman’s rifle jammed.

Security footage shows that after the gunman’s rifle malfunctioned, the security guard fired multiple shots until the gunman fell to the ground. When officers arrived, the security officer was holding the gunman at gunpoint at the main entrance of the building.

According to the security guard, the apartment complex has asked him in the past to not carry a firearm while working, but he chooses to carry one regardless of their request.

Stories like these are starting to become far too common, where unhinged people have moments of rage, mental, disparity, and emotional breakdowns that lead to violence and mass casualties. But these types of stories never get enough coverage and are the ones of brave men and women who are properly trained and exercise their Second Amendment right.

For far too long, elites and government officials have constantly taken the wrong approach by excusing criminal behavior and trying to take firearms out of the hands of law-abiding citizens. What we can take away from this story is the importance of being aware of your surroundings, having a heightened sense of danger, and having proper firearm training that will make you capable of defending yourself and those around you.
