Reactions to Jordan Neely's death show Americans are not willing simply to believe the lies of the progressive left

Human Events Editor-in-Chief Libby Emmons recently appeared on The Charlie Kirk Show to discuss the Jordan Neely debacle in New York City. Former Marine Daniel Penny put repeat violent offender Neely in a chokehold. Medical examiners ruled Neely's death a homicide.

Footage from that fateful day, captured by onlookers, has been posted widely on social media. But new footage, found by Mythinformed MKE, shows that after Neely was subdued, Penny and others tried to put him into the "recovery position." Some onlookers also thanked Penny and the others for subduing Neely, who had been threatening straphangers.

“I know [this footage] is graphic footage folks," guest host Andrew Kolvet said, "but it's important because what you have here is you have AOC and her ilk wanting to stoke a race riot. They're taking over the subway system in New York City. And yet here were passengers complimenting the former Marine Penny for his handling of the situation, and you actually will see in this footage that Neely is still moving and they are trying to resuscitate him, or bring him back to consciousness.”

Emmons, who lived in New York for 20 years, said that it takes a substantial disturbance in order to motivate New Yorkers to get out of their seats to address a situation on the subway. She listed various experiences that she has had on New York’s subway system, saying: “What you typically do, I mean, I've been on the subway with people running around the car with knives, screaming and yelling, and everybody just keeps their eyes down and hopes that the crazy person doesn't target you.”

“I've sat next to men on very crowded trains and had them do absolutely horrible things to themselves, while rubbing up against me and trying to get people to move out of the way so that I could get out of the seat.”

“So it takes an awful lot for New Yorkers to get up and do something. So this man must have been really behaving in a nuts and crazy way for New Yorkers to step up.”

Kolvet said that Neely was reported to have said that he was willing to “hurt anybody in that train,” going on to say Elon Musk’s Twitter can be thanked for making the discovery of the details of this story available to the average person. The suggestion is that under previous ownership, Twitter would have suppressed the story in some way that would not have allowed the full details to manifest.

He continued by linking Twitter’s position in the Neely story with President Joe Biden’s voting numbers, as they relate to Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and former President Donald Trump. He said that Biden’s approval ratings are at a historical low, and that it is unknown if this would have been possible without the free speech available on Twitter.

“I'm wondering, Libby, is this a result of a nation of free speech?” Kolvet asked.

Emmons responded: “I think you're right that the messaging has changed on this Jordan Neely situation. People are not willing to be just pushed aside anymore, and told some truth and then regurgitating it, and it really only takes one or two people to stand up for everyone who has been looking to stand up to say, ‘Hey, yeah, me too. That's not fair. That's not true. That's not what happened.’”

Emmons said that JK Rowling was a good example of someone who has pushed back against woke nonsense, and there have been plenty of people who have come to her defense.

The host added: “But she [Rowling] has the courage and that's the thing I'm saying, and I want to make that point. Folks, if you're listening in and you're out there, you are not alone. I think it's almost taken the conservative movement, maybe you know, since Trump 2016 to learn how to fight back loud, proud, bold, without apology. And now you're seeing all of those efforts and all those wins come to fruition with this Jordan Neely thing.”
