Philadelphia will drop its COVID-19 mask mandate less than a week after reimposing it, city officials announced Thursday night.

The Board of Health voted Thursday night to drop the mandate, according to the city’s health department, per Fox News

The department cited “decreasing hospitalizations and a leveling of case counts” in a statement.

As previously reported by Human Events News, on April 11th, Philadelphia announced they would be requiring masks beginning Monday April 18th after ending the mask mandate in early March.

Philadelphia was the first major U.S. city to reinstate its indoor mask mandate, but after facing backlash - and a lawsuit - they changed their mind.

However, the city did not clarify when the mandate would be lifted.
