The maker of the mega-famous M&M’s candy announced that they will soon rebrand their signature characters to give them more “nuanced personalities.”

In other words, M&M has gone woke.

Mars Incorporated, the company behind the candy, announced Thursday a new “global commitment to creating a world where everyone feels they belong and society is inclusive.”

Mars said its signature characters will receive a new appearance. For example, the green M&M - who famously poses in a pair of white go-go boots - will now wear a pair of sneakers, Just the News reports. The description of the character on the candy’s website says her “best quality” is being a “hypewoman for [her] friends.”

Mars said the shift is meant to demonstrate a “voice that is more inclusive, welcoming, and unifying, while remaining rooted in our signature jester, wit and humor.”

“As one of the world’s most iconic candy brands, who better to commit to a world with more moments of fun by increasing a sense of belonging around the globe than M&M’s?” Cathryn Sleight, the chief growth officer at Mars Wrigley, said.
