Minnesota public health officials reported the second known U.S. case of the Omicron variant Thursday from a resident who recently returned from New York City.

Officials said the infected person is a fully vaccinated male, Just the News reports. He has since recovered.

The individual traveled to New York City for a convention at the Javits Center from November 19 to 21, and developed symptoms shortly after returning to Minnesota. He tested positive on November 22.

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul said Thursday that those attending the Javits Center conference were required to get vaccinated. She recommends they all get tested.

The first U.S. Omicron case was confirmed Wednesday in California. The individual recently returned to San Francisco from South Africa.
