Federal authorities Thursday arrested a Russian analyst who contributed to the democrat-funded opposition research on the Trump Russia hoax, known as the Steele dossier.
The arrest of Igor Danchenko comes as part of the special counsel inquiry led by John Durham, appointed by Trump to scrutinize the Russia hoax investigation for any wrongdoing, the New York Times reports.
Danchenko was the primary researcher of the Steele dossier, a compilation of assertions suggesting Trump colluded with Russian intelligence officials during the 2016 election.
The charges against Danchenko follow Durham’s indictment in September of cybersecurity lawyer Michael Sussman, which accused him of lying to the FBI about who he was working for when he brought concerns about links between Trump and Russia to the bureau.
