Thousands of people marched through the streets of Cuba Sunday, demanding freedom from the communist regime.
“We are not afraid,” the marchers chanted in a video circulating on social media, per Just the News. “Down with the dictatorship...we want liberty.”
The protests in Cuba came after months of unrest over food lines, as well as frustrations over medical care and government neglect.
During the march, protesters waved the American flag.
Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel appeared on national television Sunday, warning protesters they would face a “strong response.”
“There are many revolutionaries in this country who are willing to give our lives, we are willing to do anything, and we will be in the streets fighting,” he said.
