House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) is demanding an investigation into the opposition to the Ground Zero mosque.

That’s right.  Pelosi’s not backing the investigation of the funding of the mosque or the terrorist-friendly statements made by the mosque’s controversial imam, Feisal Abdul Rauf.

"There is no question there is a concerted effort to make this a political issue by some. And I join those who have called for looking into how is this opposition to the mosque being funded," Pelosi told reporters in San Francisco. "How is this being ginned up that here we are talking about Treasure Island, something we've been working on for decades, something of great interest to our community as we go forward to an election about the future of our country and two of the first three questions are about a zoning issue in New York City."

Kerry Picket of the Washington Times has the audio.  (h/t Kristinn)

Pelosi is so out-of-touch with the American people, I wonder if she realizes she’s demanding an investigation of 9/11 families, firefighters, police officers and others who have spoken out against building a mosque at the site of the graves of their loved ones?

What about their First Amendment rights?

One GOP aide told HUMAN EVENTS this morning, “If the Speaker needs help finding the heart of the ‘GOP GZM Conspiracy’ I urge her to ask Sasquatch.  His office is behind the black helicopter hangar, between the unicorn pen and the leprechaun’s pot of gold.”
