The Kremlin has resorted to a bomb scare as part of a campaign to oust the leader of an ostensibly independent opposition party.

The party, Rodina, is widely believed to have been created by the Kremlin to drain support away from the Communists. However, the party actually gained a substantial following when it began exhibiting real signs of independence from Putin. The Maximum Leader has now decided that the party's leadership has taken this independence thing a little too far, and so he's about to impose new management on the the party.

One wonders why Putin, Lukashenko, Chavez, and the rest of the neo-dictators even bother with their democratic pretenses.
