JACK POSOBIEC and JOSHUA LISEC: Regime change in Iran will lead to same doomed history

Jack Posobiec and Joshua Lisec appeared on Human Events Daily, where they discussed that if there were to be regime change in Iran, it may lead to the same doomed history that has come before in other countries where the US has intervened.

Posobiec, who has put together a number of episodes detailing the "Tales of Regime Change" in other countries, said that he was thinking about putting together an episode about Iran as well. "We were going to do a fifth country, or a fifth episode of the series. Iran actually was going to be the country that we were going to pick," Posobiec said.

Lisec responded, "It was, yes. And at that time there had been this major wave of protests brewing. You had thousands of people in the streets. There were reports of young, hijabless women being dragged and imprisoned, tortured, executed, just horrible stuff. And as of this recording, it's been reported, allegedly, that thousands of these protesters have already been executed. But we saw, according to the latest sources that we have, there have not been major defections from military or other security forces, from the side of the regime to the opposition movement."

Lisec said that in the US, the topic of regime change in Iran has once again come about because the "seemingly organic, grassroots regime change efforts there amongst the locals haven't worked, so maybe the United States military needs to get involved and do it for them." He added that he did not think most young people thought doing so was a good idea.

Leading up to the segment, Posobiec played a clip of Charlie Kirk, who has previously expressed skepticism of regime change in Iran, and said that it is not a certainty what authority would replace the Ayatollah in Iran if regime change were to take place.

"We saw this with the global war on terror, with the various insurgency groups that were vying for control in Iraq. We saw this with the Arab Spring, where relatively stable, strong men-led regimes were replaced by some of the most horrific violence we have seen in living memory in the Middle East by their replacement regimes," Lisec said, reiterating the point Kirk made.

Posobiec reiterated this point and said that there have been many instances where authorities in the US and the UK have made situations worse with regime change using the CIA and other agencies.

"This was a situation in 1953 with the US and the UK, the leaders of the CIA and MI6 said, 'Oh, it's going to be great. It's going to go so wonderful, regime change. It works every single time,' And what did it lead to? The Islamic revolution itself."
