The state of Michigan has earned this week's egregious earmark for $1,350,000 for pasteurization of shell eggs.

The money was included in the Agriculture appropriations bill (H.R. 2744) for fiscal year 2006.

"I like bacon with my eggs, but this is taking it a little too far," said Flake. "If Congress continues funding pork projects like this, we'll have egg on our face come November."

The bill was passed by the House 318-63 on October 25, and passed by the Senate 81-18 on November 3. It was signed into law by President Bush on November 10.
