Presidential Punishment

Sen. Russ Feingold has introduced a censure resolution accusing President Bush for authorizing warrantless wiretapping of Americans, but it's highly unlikely that any Democratic presidential wannabes in the Senate will support the measure, at least publicly. This includes Hillary. If she were to support of the resolution at all, it would obliterate any pretense she had at being "moderate."

But then again, it would help her with the MoveOn.org and Daily Kos crowd. Speaking of which, Hillary's Dem challenger, Jonathan Tasini, endorsed Feingold's resolution but wants to go even further, to impeachment. Another potential negative for Hillary is that all this talk about censuring the president might remind voters that the Senate once considered censuring her husband for committing perjury and obstructing justice during l'affaire Lewinsky.
