K.T. McFarland keeps calling herself a "Reagan Republican," but she also keeps reminding conservatives how she is pro-choice.

Sure, Governor Reagan signed one of the most liberal abortion laws in 1967, but as president he wrote "Abortion and the Conscience of the Nation" and was an effective voice for the pro-life movement.

McFarland told The Journal News that "I think I am where the majority of the electorate is and the majority of the Republican Party as well," when it comes to abortion.

Where is she on the issue? Well, she said that she supported parental notification laws and a prohibition of partial-birth abortion, but with an exception for the "health" of the mother. Of course, "health" in this context could mean anything, from the physical, emotional, psychological, financial and familial condition of the woman, which would render any such statute toothless.

McFarland's insistence on the gutting "health" exception seemingly puts her to the left of famous New York liberals such as Mayor Ed Koch and Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan, who called the procedure "murder" and "infanticide," respectively.

However, at least she says she somewhat supports the ban, which is more than Rudy Giuliani ever did, and at this point many conservatives would kill to have Rudy run against Hillary.
