"It's as if Joseph Goebbels, the Propaganda Minster for Hitler, were to have set up a station in America during WWII."

Lee Kaplan, member of the United American Committee, is referring to a new television network that may soon be broadcast from Washington, D.C.

This isn’t just any TV network. Al-Jazeera is a radical Islamic network that is scheduled to launch in English in America this spring, Kaplan said. The United American Committee objects to this extreme use of propaganda, he said, and, therefore, he’s organizing a protest.

Al-Jazeera often broadcasts messages from Osama bin Laden as well as other terrorist leaders. "They can be broadcasting messages from bin Laden in which he commands his followers to take specific actions, and these messages would not be at all screened prior to its broadcast,” says UAC founder and chairman Jesse Petrilla. "We must not let this happen."

UAC member Robert Sandoval says, “I support a free media, and do not wish for the government to interfere, but when that media is planning on broadcasting to my children messages from our enemies and videos of beheadings, it's the peoples right to stand up against it.”

The UAC is planning a protest to begin Sunday, April 30, and to run 24 hours a day, 7 days a week - the same hours the network plans on airing. This protest is to continue daily indefinitely. The new studio of Al-Jazeera America is located at

1627 K St. NW, Suite 200, Washington, D.C. 20006
