Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D.-Calif.), No. 5 on HUMAN EVENTS' list of "Top 10 Immigration Hawks in Congress" last week, continues to amaze conservatives with her stance on immigration.
The San Fransisco Chronicle ran a notable piece yesterday documenting Feinstein's vigorous opposition to current guest worker bills and continual call for "slow, careful immigration reform":
"I do not believe you can have a guest worker come for three years, renew it for another three years, bring their family, settle in, put children in schools, and then they're going to turn around and go back at the end of six years," Feinstein said. "It doesn't happen. They disappear. And that's the problem. That's the rub. That's the magnet."
There is some speculation that Feinstein is a smart woman saying what people want to hear. Whether she's just playing it smart in an election year or sincerely concerned about the matter it makes no difference. I never thought I'd say this to Sen. Feinstein but here goes: "Thank you."
