Former Rep. Randy "Duke" Cunningham, who is scheduled to be sentenced on March 3 for bribery and tax evasion charges may not recieve the 10-year sentence prosecutors are seeking.

Cunningham's lawyers filed a sentencing memorandum to U.S. Magistrate Judge Larry A. Burns asking for a reduction since Cunningham, who has prostate cancer, may only have seven more years to live.

In the short article by CQ that covered this story, Cunningham's attorneys said this would be equivalent to a "death sentence" for the former member of Congress.
