On the lighter side this Friday afternoon, congratulations to Rep. Cathy McMorris (R.-Wash.), who got engaged earlier this week.

McMorris was named one of HUMAN EVENTS' Top 10 Up-and-Coming House Conservatives. She became assistant GOP whip as a freshman and represents the freshman class on the Republican Steering Committee.

Now she's getting married. The lucky man is Brian Rodgers, a native of Spokane, Wash., who is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and retired Navy Commander. He currently lives in San Diego where he works for a church.

Said McMorris: “This has been a very special week for me. On Tuesday, Brian Rodgers asked me to marry him and I said yes. We couldn’t be happier. We have not yet set a date but Brian is looking forward to returning to Eastern Washington and being an active part of my re-election campaign.”
