HUMAN EVENTS U is led by Christopher Flickinger, who refers to himself as the "Dean" of this conservative institute of higher education. Flickinger created the Network of College Conservatives after years of personal experiences, confrontations and battles with liberals in positions of power and influence. Yet, in spite of their best efforts, he remains true to his conservative beliefs and is a testament to other students who must wade through higher education's liberal indoctrination.

Flickinger graduated summa cum laude from Ohio University Scripps School of Journalism - or as he refers to it "a dark cesspool of liberalism in an otherwise conservative and beautiful state." Flickinger majored in broadcast journalism with specializations in political science and economics. And, despite daily verbal clashes with his leftwing instructors - some of which had his fellow students taking cover under their desks - Flickinger earned his degree in less than four years. "I was just trying to get the heck out of Dodge before somebody got hurt," says the "dean."

During his matriculation, Flickinger was awarded and recognized by various organizations for his accomplishments:

  • William Randolph Hearst Award: 5th ranked television feature package nationwide 2002 - 2003
  • William Randolph Hearst Award: 17th ranked television feature package nationwide 2001 - 2002
  • Two-time recipient of the American Alternative Foundation Scholarship as one of the top 25 conservative student journalists nationwide

His hard work landed him two major internships with the Fox News Channel in Washington, D.C., and New York City - this really irked his liberal professors - where he helped book, produce and develop segments for a number of FNC shows and talent including Rita Cosby, Geraldo Rivera, Carl Cameron and Brit Hume. Flickinger's next move was to upstate New York for a job as a local television reporter and fill-in anchor. There he encountered a number of liberals (both in the media and out) and learned television news was too fake and too leftwing for his tastes.

Although the "dean-to-be" was unsure where to go and what to do with his
God-given talents, he knew his conservative background and beliefs would have to play a major role in his next endeavor.

Flickinger began writing op-ed columns for various conservative media outlets and became a regular contributor to HUMAN EVENTS. It was there, he focused on countering liberal bias on college campuses across the nation. Flickinger believed many of the problems facing America stemmed from years of liberal indoctrination within the halls of academia.

Flickinger says, "A well-rounded education is the key to a successful, productive and happy life. Unfortunately, liberal bias, misinformation and foregone conclusions reign throughout higher education. So, how can we expect Americans, who have been brainwashed for years by leftwing educators, to embrace conservative philosophies when all they've been taught are liberal ideologies?"
