I may have been amazed by the treatment I received on Blog Row during Samuel Alito’s confirmation hearings, but Tuesday’s State of the Union Blog Row, sponsored by the House Republican Conference, was just superb.
It’s too late at night for me to offer a definitive count of all the speakers we heard from, but I estimate we saw more than 20 House members throughout the day. Kudos to the team at the House Republican Conference for its hard work to make Blog Row possible.
More than a dozen bloggers showed up for the event, committing themselves to 10 hours of coverage of State of the Union - a speech that lasted only one hour. Not to begrudge the liberal journalists who got plush seats during Bush’s speech, but I have grown to deeply respect the work and dedication of bloggers. Their influence is growing, and HUMAN EVENTS will be a part of it.
I’d also like to extend my thanks to two dedicated staffers at HUMAN EVENTS who played key roles throughout the day and during President Bush’s speech. News Producer Ivy Sellers and Assistant Editor Amanda Carpenter offered important contributions. Without their help, HUMAN EVENTS wouldn’t have been as populated with fresh content as it was.
