If you're wondering why I'm asking, it's because the Republican National Committee wants you to host a house party in celebration of President Bush's State of the Union address.

Taking a page from MoveOn.org, which frequently organized such happenings during the 2004 election, the RNC figures this is one way to make sure people tune into Bush's speech.

Getting the ball rolling is fairly simple. Just log on to GOP.com and fill out the form. You'll notice that there are already more than 1,000 house parties planned, so you won't be alone.

And while this may seem like a shameless plug for the Republican Party, I'm actually quite excited that so many people across the country have already signed up. It's encouraging to know that people will be paying attention to important issues confronting our country today.
