If Kerry didn't bother to get his information on Iraq from the CIA's definitive report published before his vote for war, where did he get it? When did he get it? How carefully did he study it? What sort of basis could he have had later for challenging the President's due diligence and credibility on this matter? Kerry's spokesman told Reuters: "Along with other senators, he was briefed on the contents of the NIE by (then-CIA Director) George Tenet and other administration officials." If this is true, Kerry must have heard the same emphatic case the President heard. In his book Plan of Attack, Bob Woodward reported that at a White House meeting in late 2002 Tenet stood up, gesturing dramatically, and twice told the President that the case for Saddam's having WMDs was a "slam dunk."
