America Coming Together (ACT), a pro-Democrat organization, announced that it will conduct background checks after it was revealed that the group used convicted felons to canvass neighborhoods in Missouri, Florida and Ohio, the AP reported.

Since spring, "our policy has been that we're not going to employ violent felons," said Mo Elliethee, ACT??¢â???¬â???¢s spokesman. "We're going to conduct this background check to ensure we're not."

The group declined to define what offenses qualify as violent or serious under the policy.

??¢â???¬?????We continue to believe people deserve a second chance??¢â???¬ ¦But our policy is to not hire anyone who we deem not to be safe," Elliethee said.
