John Kerry took a break from campaigning yesterday to visit the Senate and cast a vote on veterans??¢â???¬â???¢ benefits. His visit wasn??¢â???¬â???¢t quite so pleasant, as Republicans used procedural tactics to delay the vote until after Kerry had left for a campaign stop in San Francisco, the Boston Globe reported. Kerry had skipped a $500,000 fundraiser in New Mexico to be in the Senate for the vote.

After waiting hours to speak on the Senate floor, Kerry accused Republicans of playing politics.

''Evidently this is not a normal time for those courtesies in the life of the Senate - I regret that for the Senate, and for the country, and for veterans," he said.

Massachusetts Governor, Mitt Romney, in town to testify on the Family Marriage Amendment, repeated a call for Kerry to resign because of his neglect of his Senate duties.
