Rep. Lamar Smith (R.-Tex.) issued the following statement which drew our attention to a hateful posting on MSNBC and Slate:

"The publication today by MSNBC and Slate magazine of a 'comic strip' by Ted Rall that mocks former NFL player and Army Ranger Pat Tillman is an appalling example of the hate that consumes some opponents of the war on terror in Iraq.

"Pat Tillman's commitment to duty, honor and country will always be remembered despite the actions of a few on the extremist fringe. His sacrifice reminds us that heroism transcends the athletic field."
