$150,000 Oklahoma State Department of Education "to sustain and expand their handheld computer program."
-Oklahomas public schools may be failing, but at least the educational bureaucrats know how to use a Gameboy.
$200,000 to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, Cleveland, Ohio for the Rockin' the Schools education program.
-Another great example of where federal "education" money goes.
$250,000 for Clemson Universitys "Call Me Mister" program.
-The purpose of this program, according to Clemsons website, is "to put more African American male role models in elementary school classrooms." It may well be a very worthy program , but it is also a great example of the fact that such programs can and do raise their own money. According to the website, this program has raised at least $1 million in large private grants during its three-year existence. But why should donors keep giving them their money if congressmen will give them your money instead?
$15,000,000 for a "breastfeeding support initiative."
-For all the screams and howls about taking money from widows and orphans, consider that somehow, over hundreds of years, society survived and even flourished without the government spending $15 million on breastfeeding.
