PETA — Legitimate Organization or Cloaked ‘Onion’ Contributor?

In a news item titled "PETA Renews Request for Nonviolent 'Sausage' After Pirate Attack" that reads like satire, PETA offers a suggestion to confront the violence in Major League Baseball.

The recent "sausage incident" at Miller Park in Milwaukee - in which Pirates first baseman Randall Simon used his baseball bat to knock over a mascot dressed as a sausage - has led PETA to demand the entry of a "low-violence" non-meat, soy sausage into the customary costume race held at Brewers' home games.

PETA's Sports Campaign Coordinator, Dan Shannon, stated, "Violence is violence, whether it's toward 'sausages' or living animals."

Which is more amusing, the press release itself or the fact that PETA has a Sports Campaign Coordinator?

No, this is not from "The Onion." This is for real.

Unsatirizable.
