Supplier prices for goods rose 2.4 percent in February, the biggest increase since data for the metric was first calculated over 10 years ago.

As reported by The Hill, most of the increase was due to a spike in energy prices, the Labor Department said, which noted a 14.8 percent rise in the index for gasoline.

Disregarding food and energy, supplier prices for goods rose 0.7 percent.

The overall producer-price index, which includes goods and services, was up 0.8 percent in February, leveling off slightly from a 1.2 percent increase in January.
