Carlson spoke about the first time he met Erika, and that after he met with Charlie and Erika, then just his girlfriend, he spoke to his wife and said, "That chick is a star," and then commented about how much direction and purpose Erika had. "She was just like, 'No, this is what's true, and that's not true.' I mean, she is—tough is not exactly the right word, because it's from love—it's from Christian faith. It's from faith in Jesus." He added that Erika was "unwavering" in her faith in Jesus Christ.
Kolvet chimed in, talking about how Erika and Kirk met, and then played a clip of both Charlie and Erika on the show previously, in which both of them determined that Erika was the more conservative of the two.
Kolvet later added that after Kirk's death, Erika got a call from someone asking about how much Erika knows about Turning Point USA, to which she replied, "I know everything."
Carlson then commented, "When I heard that she was taking over. I was I was just elated ... it's just the fact, the provable fact, that she had the same spirit and the same goals, same mission that he had."
Erika was announced to be the board chair and CEO TPUSA earlier this week, with the announcement saying, "All of us at Turning Point USA have a special role in carrying Charlie Kirk's mantle and completing his vision of bringing us all closer to our Lord and fostering a prosperous country for generations to come.
"As Charlie always said, 'We have a country to save.' We will not surrender or kneel before evil. We will carry on. The attempt to destroy Charlie's work will become our chance to make it more powerful and enduring than ever before."
