DAVID KRAYDEN: Sean Feucht refuses to give up on Canada— we Canadians shouldn't give up either

Canada treats Christians like third-class citizens instead of the people who founded the country in 1867.

The ordeal that several Canadian cities have put US pastor and Christian musician Sean Feucht through is emblematic of just how sick, woke, and embarrassing Canada has become. The refusals to let him hold worship services and temper tantrums when he does are a Satanic response to a Christian who dares to oppose the LGBTQ agenda, abortion and critical race theory.

Want to have a Pride parade with men exposing their private parts to children? Hey, that’s okay; it’s called diversity, equity and inclusion. But a Christian music concert with the faithful raising their hands and worshiping Jesus Christ? Sorry, apparently this is not allowed in Quebec City, Moncton and Charlottetown or Gatineau, a city just across the Quebec border from Ottawa.

Feucht did perform in Montreal, against the wishes of both smoke-bomb lobbing activists and Mayor Valerie Plante. But the story there was even more execrable, as Montreal police stormed the Spanish Catholic church that was hosting him and then fined the church $2,500 for not having a permit. Since when does a church require a permit for a guest speaker?

Feucht was able to evade Canadian authoritarianism when he performed in Toronto on Sunday evening.

But the efforts of the tin-pot dictators in Canadian cities represents what is perhaps the most visceral demonstration of the persecution of Christians in Canadian history.

The Covid mandates and lockdowns conditioned churches to accept the invasion of their places of worship by police in flak jackets. Although the premier of Quebec has talked about banning public prayer in response to pro-Hamas rallies on Montreal’s streets, this is just more government overreach in response to the failure of Montreal police to discourage or block these Muslim prayer protests that block traffic.

This outrage occurred against the backdrop of Freedom Convoy organizers Chris Barber and Tamara Lich being threatened with up to 8 years in jail for engaging in a peaceful protest against Covid mandates. Barber shared a Feucht post that warned that the Trump administration was being informed of Canada's descent into anti-Christian hell.

Why is there such pushback against an American evangelical performing before church crowds? The mainstream media in Canada continues to refer to Feucht as “MAGA-affiliated,” and as a supporter of President Donald Trump. What is it that Canadian politicians don’t understand about Trump being legally and overwhelmingly elected as the chief executive of the United States by supporters who wanted to Make America Great Again?

This is a national sickness. On Saturday he had to change his venue from a federal park in Gatineau, after the National Capital Commission denied him a permit to perform. Alfred and Plantagenet Mayor Yves Laviolette said he was unaware of the concert until he was alerted by the media and then later by Ontario Provincial Police.

Even in Kelowna and Abbotsford BC, inside Canada’s Bible belt, Canada’s mainstream media is finding opposition to Feucht preaching and performing in public.

"If somebody like this wants to perform, maybe they should do it at a church, not at a public space outdoors," said Kaz Zvanitajs, a resident of West Kelowna. "My tax dollars go towards this space, and I don't want a dime of it going towards supporting somebody who is divisive and who has some very controversial views."

This comment should really enrage us because it illustrates what Canada has become: a nation where Christians are third-class citizens instead of the people who founded the country in 1867. We should be sick of hearing about how “divisive” or “controversial” views should relegate Christians to the back of the bus.

Who defines what these terms mean? Is a Liberal Party rally not divisive and controversial? Is a gay Pride parade not just divisive and controversial but also obscene and a celebration of hedonism and a sybaritic lifestyle?

Of course. But we have come to the place in Canada where Christians are not permitted to worship in public places and need the approval of their local Soviet council to do so in their churches. Canadian politicians are so detached from reality, so deluded and so woke that they consider anyone reflecting the views of Donald Trump or the Bible as unwelcome in this country—even though Trump is the elected head of state of the country that Canada is most allied with, most economically tied to and most militarily connected to.

I say again: this is madness and this is not the country that I was born in and grew up in. It is like a foreign nation that actively persecutes Christians. Feucht himself has said he has not faced the hostility and obstacles that he has overcome in Canada while touring in Middle Eastern countries that are apparently more tolerant towards touring Christian preachers than Canada is.

Feucht proclaimed in an X post last night that “God is not dead in Canada.”

No, the secularists, the woke crowd, the enemies of freedom cannot kill God or destroy Christianity. But the question really is whether Canada is dead as a democratic nation. Canada once not only tolerated freedom of speech and freedom of religion but embraced it, nourished it and proclaimed it from the rooftops. That is the Canada that I can remember—and the way Canada should be.

Here is the Canada I can vaguely remember at this point, as stated in Prime Minister John Diefenbaker’s Bill of Rights:

"I am Canadian, a free Canadian, free to speak without fear, free to worship God in my own way, free to stand for what I think right, free to oppose what I believe wrong, free to choose those who govern my country. This heritage of freedom I pledge to uphold for myself and all mankind."

Sadly, I can only see that Canada in my rear-view mirror.
