Authorities in London are looking into a fire that broke out overnight at the private residence of Prime Minister Keir Starmer. No injuries were reported.

The incident occurred around 1:35 am local time, according to the Metropolitan Police, who responded to reports of a fire at a north London address. “Officers attended the scene. Damage was caused to the property’s entrance, nobody was hurt,” police said, according to Reuters. “The fire is being investigated and cordons remain in place while enquiries continue.”

The London Fire Brigade, which also responded to the incident, described the blaze as a “small fire.”

Starmer’s office at Downing Street acknowledged the fire but did not give further details. “The Prime Minister thanks the emergency services for their work. The incident is subject to a live investigation and we will therefore not be commenting further,” a spokesperson said.

Though Starmer became prime minister in July, he has maintained his home in north London while also residing at the official residence and working out of Downing Street.

Police did not immediately report if they believed the fire was accidental or deliberate.
