Human Events Daily host Jack Posobiec gave an update on Thursday, where he revealed that he had not been in Germany or Brussels over the last few days, but instead, in Ukraine with Secretary Scott Bessent as part of a high-level delegation from the Trump White House.

Posobiec described arriving in Kyiv overnight, traveling by train for 10 hours, and visiting several key locations. "We visited with the Ukrainian Prime Minister, the Ukrainian Ministry of Finance, the US Embassy in Kyiv, and yes, also visited President Zelensky there in his presidential complex," he said. "As you know, Secretary Bessent held his meeting with President Zelensky, where they discussed the situation with the rare earth minerals and the deal that Zelensky had offered to President Trump regarding the peace for US, Russia, and Ukraine for ending the war."

Posobiec recalled his previous reporting on the conflict, noting that three years ago, Human Events Daily covered the war in Ukraine in its series titled "The Night Train to Odessa." He said that the war could have been avoided if different actions had been taken.

"Three years ago, on Human Events Daily, we took you into the Ukraine war... The night train to Odessa. The entire time, I’ve been recording my experiences and videos, and we’re going to be releasing that as a special Human Events Daily episode, called "The Night Train to Kyiv."

"What people need to understand is that it’s been three years. Three years of a terrible war, a horrific war that never had to happen. Had the Biden administration not been so aggressive with the expansion of NATO, had there been any effort for peace, had there been any effort for real negotiation, it’s possible this could have been avoided."

"It was certainly a provoked war, and it was a war that took two to tango, which means it’s going to take two to get to peace. If wars can be started by lies, peace can be started by truth."

"Hegseth said that the pre-2014 borders for Ukraine were not going to happen, that NATO membership for Ukraine would not happen, and the US would not send troops to the territory of Ukraine in any security post-war situation or agreement," Posobiec reported.

According to Posobiec, Zelensky insisted on a security guarantee, which would amount to de facto NATO membership—something that was not part of the deal. "Zelensky said he wanted a security guarantee. A security guarantee would be de facto NATO membership. This was not part of the deal," he said.

Despite urging from Secretary Bessent, Zelensky refused to sign but suggested he would revisit the deal after meeting with JD Vance in Munich.

The situation changed in real-time as Posobiec and his team were leaving the presidential complex. "Just as we were walking out of the presidential complex in Kyiv, that’s when President Trump posted his Truth Social saying that while we had been inside and the Secretary was there meeting with Zelensky… President Trump had spent the same hour on the phone with Vladimir Putin," Posobiec revealed.
