In all seriousness, the Trump administration is pushing DJT’s agenda along at record speed, and a recent example of this is his executive order banning transgender women, also known as men, from competing in women’s sports and using women’s only spaces. But, to play the devils advocate, is this the win we think it is?
Put another way, yes, I recognize that this is a huge win for the right, however, this is only an executive order, which, essentially, means that it is just a temporary fix. If real and long-lasting change is to be achieved regarding the trans-athlete situation, there is no way around it. We will need congress to act.
So, what will it take for us to win over the Democrat lawmakers when it comes this issue?
Based on my analyses of the entire trans movement and its place in the culture war, honestly, trans athletes are not the lynchpin. What I mean by this is that “trans kids,” and not trans-athletes are actually the thing that fires the citizenry up and moves it to action, and there are two reasons that this is the case.
The first is that, contrary to common belief on the right, most Democrats are not ok with the LGBTQ+ push to indoctrinate their children; and the second is that we have already seen this culture battle play itself out in Britain, a much more progressive country than our own that often times, due to our similar, Western culture, gives us clues as to what political movements we are going to face in the future.
When it comes to this first reason, according to the New York Post, 59% of registered voters “support a federal ban on transgender procedures such as puberty blockers and gender reassignment surgeries for minors.” Now, at face value this makes sense because, after all, 50% of the country is right-wing. Be this as it may, though, when you look deeper into the study, you find that 36% of the Democrats polled were opposed to these practices as well.
Furthermore, 56% of Independents, a group that is generally overwhelmingly anti-government-intervention for pretty much every issue (Libertarian), said that they would also like to ban these practices. Therefore, even though most Democrats support the transgender movement publicly, it is reasonable, given the sample size (2,560) and the margin of error (±2.1%) in this study, that a plurality of them don’t want it to touch their children, or anyone else’s.
In regards to the second reason, Britain is generally a good bellwether for the future of American politics. Some would even say that they are us in 5-10 years. Of course, this may not be completely accurate, but it is, nonetheless, generally true that when it comes to cultural trends/movements (I.e., immigration, nationalism, etc.) the British people behave in very similar ways to our own population.
At any rate, the trans-kids debate raged hard in the UK, and for a time, their left won. Fortunately, this is no longer the case. As of December, 2024, the British government has “banned puberty blockers for children with Gender Dysphoria.” Which, not to toot my own horn, I foreshadowed in my first book:
“…when it comes to hormone blockers, which are drugs used to postpone puberty among adolescents, put frankly, the argument that they are reversible is a fallacy, and this is agreed upon even by trans-friendly institutions, like the Mayo Clinic, for instance, who recently stated that (2023), “though puberty can be resumed after hormone blockers are ceased, long-term effects such as decreased bone density, stunted bone growth, and infertility are still common.” And in addition to this, a 56-page UK study entitled Short-term outcomes of pubertal suppression in a selected cohort of 12 to 15-year-old young people with persistent gender dysphoria in the UK by Carmichael et al., stated that alongside these long-term negative physical symptoms researchers also noticed no improvement in the youth’s psychological well-being after undergoing their respective hormone therapies. To put that another way, negative consequences aside, there really weren’t any negligible positive consequences of adolescents suffering from gender dysphoria using hormone therapy either. “
The point is this: even Britain realizes that the trans movement has lost its mind. As a result, they have backed off, slightly. But what does this all mean for our country? More specifically, in reference to the trans debate, what does all of this mean for the right side of the aisle’s push for sanity?
When it’s all said and done, the reality is that it's up to the left whether this issue gets solved long term. In other words, the more they push, the more our victory is inevitable. I mean, if a plurality of liberals oppose trans-kids, and if we incorporate how this played out in Britain, then this makes transgenderism an issue wherein the left is their own worst enemy. And because they need the votes, this will trickle up to the Democrat politicians, though they are hard to reach in their ivory towers.
No one can say how hard the left will push back against the Trump administration's, not anti-trans, but rather sane policy; however, the usual suspects are already playing a predictable role. California is already resisting, and this means that they are probably going to keep up with the lefts’ lunacy, and they are not the only one. Multiple states are already raising the battle cry against his executive order and failing to comply, something that would have been called insurrection just a few months ago.
Anyway, though this EO is a win, whether or not it is a real win is up to the left. Will they continue to push radical gender ideology, or will they chill the hell out? If it is the former option, which seems to be the case, then we can expect to win the culture war surrounding the trans issue with ease…. the ball is in your court, Leftists.
