Kansas Senator Roger Marshall joined Jack Posobiec on Wednesday's episode of Human Events Daily to discuss what's ahead for Washington DC now that President Donald Trump is back in office.
Marshall called the week "glorious," with Trump's inauguration kicking off the celebrations on Monday. He recounted "one of the darkest moments" he experienced at one point when he felt like a minority in America but now there is "hope across the nation."
Posobiec then asked the senator for his insight on the progress of Pete Hegseth for defense secretary, noting that a 53 majority of senators had voted for Hegseth in an unofficial vote.
"Yeah, I'm optimistic that Pete's going to get across the finish line," Marshall divulged, adding that he personally loves Hegseth's goals of addressing recruiting and "morale in the military." Marshall revealed that Hegseth had sat and talked with his son, who had served in the US Army in Poland, at length.
"So I think that Pete's going to really relate to those younger folks in the military, or war fighters, as he calls them, as opposed to them focusing on the military-industrial complex," Marshall said. "So I'm excited about his ability to recruit, and I'm excited about his ability to address the morale in the military as well."
Speaking of the US military, Marshall stated that he hopes the current administration will focus on bringing the massive amounts of overseas troops back to the states to focus on the border. "Our focus should be on our own borders. Europe needs to take care of their own problems."
